No Annual Fee Credit Cards
Posted on May 8th, 2010 No commentsNo annual fee credit cards are simply credit cards with no annual fees and are offered by various banks and other financial institutions across Australia.
There are many ‘no annual charge credit cards’ currently on offer and these are broken down into various categories. There are credit cards with no annual fee for the life of the card or credit cards that have their annual fee waived for the first year only.
Generally these credit cards attract a higher interest rate so their balance should be paid in full each month to avoid paying financial institutions a greater interest rate and they may not offer any great reward programs.
Credit cards with no annual fees do make great backup cards for emergencies and many banks offer the ability to apply for supplementary cards for family members or friends. This provides peace of mind knowing that funds are always at hand without the added cost each year to keep the card.

No fee credit card advice
Some credit card issuers do offer cards with no annual fee for the first year then issue a fee for each year after. For example the Commonwealth Bank’s low annual fee credit card has a $0 annual fee for the first year then issues a $24 fee for the consecutive years there after.
There is a way to waive the fee for the commonwealth bank low annual fee credit card and that is to spend a minimum amount on the card per year. Westpac offers a similar package on the 55 day visa or master card. By spending a minimum of $10,000 in a year the fee for the next year will be waived.
Apart from not having to pay for using no annual fee credit cards there are a few other benefits to using one for your purchases.
