Across Australia it appears that the major reason why credit card debt does not appear to be waning to is that many consumers are only making their minimum payments each month.

If you were to only make the minimum payments each month you are only paying a tiny amount of the capital, the rest of the repayment amount is only interest. On a considerable level of credit card debt, this can indicate that it might take literally decades to reduce your credit card expenses and repay the amount remaining on the card in full.

The most apparent way to lower your credit card debt is by making two or more payments each month this would automatically reduce the amount of time it would take to pay off the card by at least half. This requires a lot of discipline and budgeting for your weekly expenses.

Once your credit card debt is paid off in full many consumers prefer to apply for a no annual fee credit card. It is recommended to spend wisely on such a card as described above interest rates on annual fee free cards may be higher than others on the market.

If you have a clear way of paying your credit card off each month than applying for a no annual fee credit card does make the most sense. Some of the larger banks in Australia offer reward points, frequent flyer points and other programs where spending on your card will benefit you measurable value.

A global problem is that many people are spending more money on their credit cards each month, this translates into individuals spending much more than they make. The implications with doing this is that debt may never be repaid and people will have to eventually go into voluntary liquidation. By keeping a close on and understanding your spending habits holding a no annual fee credit card can benefit you with a number of rewards along with the added bonus of no fee as each year passes.
